Quirky Questions

OK. So, I just moved my clean silverware from the dish drainer into the silverware holder in my drawer and noticed there was dirt, gunk, etc., in the silverware holder. How does that happen?! I mean, only the clean silverware makes it into the drawer, right? So where does all the dirt come from? And, importantly, I know this isn't just my silverware holder - cuz I checked! It happens with my mom, my sister and my best friend as well. So, what's the deal?
Then I started thinking that this is one of those questions that falls into the category of "quirky questions and scenarios." You know, like - where do the missing socks go? Or, why do some people sneeze more loudly than others? Or, does keeping a meeting room cold really keep people awake/attentive? etc. While the answers are often elusive, I still have fun thinking about them!
So, if you have any more of these quirky questions . . . or, if you have any fun, creative or enlightening answers . . . please share!

Help

The moisture from just-washed silverwared drips and spreads into the holder, attracting more dust than the surrounding, dryer area.
The solution? Get a perforated or otherwise breathable silverware holder.
Ah ha! I knew I would find some solutions from my fellow brilliant Zaadzsters! Thanks Sean - I'm off to shop for my new silverware holder!
My answer to this…… eat out. :)
Thanks for the giggle Nancy. I love these types of oddities too.
I am familiar with the silverware holder gunk, though I've never really given it much thought until now! My suspicion is that it also may have something to do with mold. It's wet much of the time, doesn't get much air…
I was just re-reading some of the essays in David Sedaris' Me Talk Pretty One Day – great any time you need a laugh. Anyway, he mentioned a couple of these unexplained mysteries, one of them being the popularity of the teeny-weeny knapsack. I thought that was hilarious. Really, who thought that one up?
Shelly, I'm with you. What's on the menu of my local vegan restaurant today? =)
Robin - what is up with the teeny-weeny knapsack? You can potentially fit a few raisins in there, but not much else. ;-) Thanks for the levity. It definitely made me smile.
